Saturday sale to benefit ARK

Friends of the ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep) will hold a fundraising garage sale Saturday, May 26, at 525 Sixth St. in Port Aransas. The sale will begin at 8 a.m.

Among the items being offered - aside from the usual garage sale things - are special treasures ARK director Tony Amos has brought back from his observation trips down the beach. These include rope, floats and "the usual mystery finds," said Friends of the ARK officer Lee Harrison.

The public may also donate items for the garage sale, Harrison said. To donate, call Harrison at (361) 332-6361.

The Animal Rehabilitation Keep is largely run by volunteers. Housed at The University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute, it rehabilitates injured wild animals to be returned to their habitat. Friends of the ARK is the volunteer group that backs the ARK and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
