Some to curtail hours, close on Memorial Day

In memory STAFF PHOTO BY MURRAY JUDSON The American and Texas flags raised at Island Moorings will join others this Memorial Day weekend to commemorate those who have given their lives for the sake of their country. Raising the flags are, from left, Pete McGrady, E.J. Dean and John Paul Songer.
While most of Port Aransas will be "on the job" making sure Memorial Day holiday visitors are well served, some businesses will be closed on Monday, May 28.

City Hall will take the day as a holiday, as will ValueBank Texas and Prosperity Bank.

American Bank's drive-through lanes will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.

Allied Waste will maintain its usual trash pick up schedule.

The South Jetty newspaper office will be closed. Letters to the editor may be e-mailed by the regular deadline of 10 a.m. Monday, or put in the mail slot in the front door at 141 W. Cotter.

Deadline for news and advertising will be noon Tuesday, May 29.
