Ken Dunton's on the road again.
Dunton, a research scientist at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, will once again join thousands of cyclists for the BP MS 150 Bike Tour - a twoday, 180-mile bike ride from Houston to Austin, April 21-22. The event, which Dunton took part in last year, is not a race, but a fundraiser to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Funds raised by the cycling event go to help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Last year, more than 12,000 cyclists raised $11.5 million for research on MS, a serious disease of the central nervous system.
Dunton will ride with Team Shell, which has entered more than 200 riders in the event.
Dunton said his training program includes cycling several hours per day followed by swimming.
"Despite the challenge of riding so many miles, I again look forward to riding in the BP MS 150 Bike Tour," Dunton said. "I am very lucky that my health enables me to do this, especially in support of people who must constantly live with the challenge of dealing with the physical symptoms of MS.
"I have friends with MS that I really would like to help and whom I will be thinking about as I ride," Dunton said.
Donations specifically associated with Dunton's ride can be made on-line by visiting the following MS web site: http://www.ms150. org/MS150/donate/edonatelink. cfm?id=198954&p=AC6701.
