      Lawrence Ash of West Virginia is pictured with a sow red snapper he caught on a Tuesday state water red snapper trip out of Deep Sea Headquarters Tuesday, Jan. 30. On the trip aboard the Gulf Eagle with Capt. Keith Schoolcraft, snapper limits were caught by anglers.

      Trevor Boyle of Port Aransas shot his first buck recently on a ranch near Laredo, while hunting with his Uncle. Boyle is 16 and a junior at Port Aransas High School.

Big black drum
      Bob Plasko of Georgetown caught and released this black drum in the surf near Beach Access Rd. 2 on Monday, Jan. 29. It took about twenty minutes to land the fish using dead shrimp. It measured 42inches long with an estimated weight of about forty-five pounds.

      On a trip aboard the Scat Cat out of Fisherman's Wharf on Friday, Jan. 26. Kevin J. Kilian of Minnesota reeled in a good catch of Atlantic sharpnose sharks and kingfish. Capt. Marvin Horner led anglers to limits on this 9-hour trip.
