Classes to be offered at Computer Center

The Port Aransas Computer Center, 430 N. Alister St., will offer an “Introduction to Windows XP” class Monday-Thursday, Jan. 15-18, 8:30- 10 a.m., in the classroom area at the center. A donation to the center of $30 is requested. The class will be taught by Computer Club president John Somers.

A Windows XP sign-up sheet is on the door by the donation box in the center. Class size is limited to 12 and a minimum of eight is needed. Include your phone number on the signup sheet so the center can contact you if the class does not fill. Give your donation to the volunteer on duty in the center at the time you sign up. Somers said the center plans to offer

other classes from time to time: Plans are under way for a class in digital photography and a class on email using both Outlook Express and WebMail.

The center is provided by the nonprofit Port Aransas Computer Club and is an all-volunteer enterprise, supported by user donations. The center offers 30 workstations, a Dell laser printer and high-speed internet access to all, visitors and residents alike.

Winter Texans and residents who would like to volunteer for a regular two-hour shift or to substitute are welcome. No computer expertise is needed. Call the center at 749-4011 and talk to Lyndon Holcomb or the volunteer on duty or drop in and fill out a volunteer form.
