City changes brush pickup The city is trying to save money on brush pick-up. Starting immediately, city crews will pick up brush at streetside only by arrangement, said Assistant City Manager Judy Lyle. Lyle said that's a change from crews driving around the city looking for brush that's been set out for pick-up, and is expected to save time and money. Anyone wanting brush picked up should call city hall at 749-4111 and make arrangements for crews to come by, Lyle said. She said brush will be picked up on a first-call, first-served basis. Brush must be in lengths no longer than six feet but doesn't need to be bundled, she said. Only residents who receive sanitation bills – which eliminates condominiums, for instance – may arrange for city brush pickup. The charge of $5 per pickup will appear on the city sanitation bill, Lyle said. Pickups will be made weekdays only, she said. |
