The Port Aransas High School Lady Marlins sank the Mathis High School Lady Pirates, 53-30, in a game on Friday, Dec. 14.

"We did not allow the Pirates too many open looks at the basket," said Randy Henderson, coach of the Lady Marlins.

"However," Henderson said, "we had way too many turnovers against

team that was not putting that much defensive pressure on us. We need to take better care of the ball."

The Lady Marlins did a good job at rebounding. Wing Sarah Pate led the way with eight grabs.

Lady Marlin guards Lia Phillips and Elaine Franco led the team in the category of steals, with six each.

"Rebecca Armanovs had another solid game for us off the bench,"  Henderson said. "It's tough to come off the bench sometimes, but Rebecca, Emily Scott, Rachael Phillips, Meredith Berry and Sarah Pate normally do a good job for us."
