Lady Marlins JV falls to Lady 'Dogs
      The Port Aransas High School Lady Marlins JV fell to the Orange Grove High School Lady Bulldog JV 31-27 on Tuesday, Dec. 4. "We really did not play very well at all," said Karen Hall, coach of the Lady Marlins JV. "The girls were moving in slow motion most of the game, but we were ahead until the end of the third quarter.

Freshman team defeats Bulldogs
      The Port Aransas High School Lady Marlins freshmen overcame early foul problems to defeat the Orange Grove Lady Bulldogs, 41-28, on Dec. 4. Five Lady Marlin players had three fouls apiece by halftime. "And with only having seven girls, that is not good," said Karen Hall, coach of the Lady Marlin freshmen.

      In the third quarter of the game, Banquete High School's JV Bulldogs built a lead of eight points over their Port Aransas High School counterparts. But, in the end, the 'dogs were left yelping in a cloud of Marlin dust.

      The eighth-grade Lady Marlins lost to Woodsboro, 39-8, in a game at Woodsboro on Monday, Dec. 10. On the plus side, the seventh-grade Lady Marlins beat Woodsboro's seventh graders, 22-6. Another plus side: Javier Mendoza, coach of both Lady Marlins teams, said his players have improved with every game this season.

      The Port Aransas seventh-grade Marlins continued their undefeated season with a 42-18 shellacking of Woodsboro on Monday, Dec. 10. The eighth-grade Marlins lost to Woodsboro, 34-25, yet continued to show improvement, said Steve Reaves, coach of Brundrett Middle School boys' basketball teams.
