Booster Club seeks food donors

The Marlin Athletic Booster Club still is seeking donations of breakfast food for the hospitality room at the Marlin Classic basketball tournament at Port Aransas High School Nov. 15-17.

The breakfast foods will be needed for the mornings of Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17.

The booster club is asking that varsity players sign up by Nov. 15 to bring desserts for the hospitality room.

The hospitality room will provide free food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for coaches (including visiting coaches) and referees taking part in the tournament. Anyone who wants to donate food should contact Emily Phillips, the booster club volunteer in charge of hospitality room food, at 749-1209.

The booster club still has a few spots left open for volunteers to work the concession stand during the Marlin Classic.

Volunteers will work the concession stand throughout all three days and in the evenings of the tournament.

Games on Nov. 15 and 16 start at 9 a.m., with the last game starting at 8:15 p.m. On Nov. 17, the first games will be at 9 a.m., and the last one starts at 7:30 p.m.

Booster club officials are asking that volunteers do two-hour shifts. The booster club guarantees that parents will not have to work during their children's games, said Karen Collins, co-president of the club.

Students can earn National Honor Society community service hours by working the concession stand, Collins said.

Folks who want to volunteer for the concession stand should contact Collins at 749-7878 or Stephanie Sawyer, co-president, at 749-7877.
