New PAHS track surface is completed

Resurfacing work has been completed on the Port Aransas Independent School District's track.

Hill Country Courts of Spicewood applied a new layer of rubber to the track, which previously had been worn down to asphalt in places. The work lasted several days, wrapping up during the weekend of Oct. 13 and 14.

Another firm is scheduled to apply striping in early November, said Billy Wiggins, PAISD superintendent.

The resurfacing and striping cost the school district slightly more than $32,000, Wiggins said. He said he expects the work to be good for four to six years.
