Computer Club to meet Tuesday
The Port Aransas Computer Club will meet Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the classroom section of the Computer Center, 430 North Alister.
A question and answer and computer troubleshooting session will start the meeting, and at 7:30 p.m. will be followed by a program about Vista, Microsoft's new operating system. The program will be given by Julian Sergeant, one of the network administrators of the center.
Sergeant, from England, operates Beachcomber Computers, a local computer consulting business in addition to his work as a volunteer expert for the center. The meeting absolutely will adjourn at 8:30 p.m.
The computer club also announced the results of an election of officers for the 2007-2008 year, which was held Oct. 1. John Somers will continue as president, Lyndon Holcomb as vice-president, and Jennifer Bailey as treasurer. Kristin Allen will assume the role of secretary after the November meeting. Marge Larsen will continue as secretary until then.
The meeting is free, as is membership in the computer club. For more information call the center at 749-4011 or John Somers, 749 3386. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the center, call the center or Somers, or Lyndon Holcomb, volunteer coordinator at the center number. No computer expertise is needed to volunteer and you receive several benefits not available to members or center users.
