Boy Scouting isn't just for boys. Parents are needed for the program, too.

Parents of boys in first through 12th grade may volunteer as den leaders for their sons who sign up to become members of Port Aransas Boy Scout Troop 29 at a registration tonight, Thursday, Sept. 27.

Sign-up for the 2007-08 year will be at 6:30 p.m., at the Scout hut, located behind Community Presbyterian Church, 113 S. Alister St.

It costs $11 to join; that fee includes insurance for all Scouting events. The Scout will not have to pay the fee again as long as he stays with the troop.

The Jerry McDonald Foundation sponsors the Port Aransas Scouting program.
