Boy Scouts need parent volunteers

Scout wraps up Eagle project
      Eric Hawes of Port Aransas Boy Scout Troop 29 completed his Eagle Scout project, Saturday Sept. 22. The project he chose was to rebuild and improve the swing set at the First Baptist Church in Port Aransas. Several troop members, friends and five adults worked with Hawes to complete the task.

PAHS earns grant from Sam's Club
      A Corpus Christi Sam's Club outlet has agreed to award a $1,000 grant to Port Aransas High School, said Travis Longanecker, principal at PAHS. The grant is part of a partnership agreement with Sam's in which 35 student volunteers spent a morning picking up litter at Mustang Island State Park.

PTO sale continues
      Buy! Sell! Buy! Sell! The deadline is Monday, Oct. 1, for folks to buy catalogue items from the dozens of H.G. Olsen Elementary School students taking part in an annual fundraiser for PTO programs. Students are selling items including wrapping paper and gift items like picture frames and candles.

Lessons for life
      Character education classes have resumed for the 2007-08 school year. Students on the H.G. Olsen Elementary and Brundrett Middle school campuses have "guidance class" one class time every other week during their enrichment time.
