Trustees okay lower tax rate

The Port Aransas Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved a $6.2 million budget for the 2007-08 school year and set a tax rate of $1.05838 per $100 valuation. Guy Broekstra of Aransas Pass died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at his home. He was 71 and the father of Eileen Hoffman of Port Aransas. Broekstra was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Chicago, Ill. to Richard and Helen Broekstra.
