In addition to her husband, Borders is survived by her grandson, whom she adopted, Syrus Borders of Port Aransas; a sister, Peggy Neal of Fredericksburg, a brother, Roy Boring of Truth or Consequences, NM, a granddaughter, C'Yerah Sprinkle of Sugar Land, and her daughter, Edie Barsch of Brady.
Her mother, Ann Marie Boring and brother, Tom Boring, preceded her in death.
Her ashes will be scattered with those of her mother and brother in Mason in private family services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Port Aransas Rotary Club scholarship fund or the American Cancer Society.
