Five Port Aransas youths took time out of their summer to attend a soccer camp in an attempt to learn new skills and bump up their competition level.

Ashby Snow, Dylan Denton, Chase Denton, Hattie Longanecker and George Clover participated in the camp held by the Texas Soccer Academy.

The five-day camp was held Monday through Friday, June 18 to 22, at Bill Witt Fields in Corpus Christi.

The camp has been in existence since the 1970s.

The kids met several soccer players from Jamaica who played in the World Cup, others from the United Kingdom and a goalie from the University of Texas women's team.

They said it was great fun and hope more Port Aransas kids will go with them next year.
