PowderPuff: Women get their hooks into fishing
      Some 176 anglers took part in the 24th annual Woody's Powder- Puff Tourney on Friday and Saturday, June 15-16. That's 30 more anglers than in last year's event. A total of 45 amateur teams and 18 pro-am teams competed this year.

Billfish tourney underway

      The Port Aransas Masters Billfish Tournament got under way yesterday, Wednesday, June 20, and continues through Saturday, June 23. Eligible species in the tournament are blue and white marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna and dolphin.

      Capt. Frank Duxstad steered Brian and Andrea Andel of Austin to limits of redfish, a few trout and some big drum. They were fishing using lures and some fresh bait near Hog Island on Saturday, June 9.
