Reading program starts

The program is being held Wednesdays during June and July (except July 4), 10-11 a.m. at the library. The Ellis Memorial Library annual Summer Reading Club will be held on Wednesdays during June and July (except for July 4). The program will be held in the library's meeting room from 10-11 a.m.

The targeted age group is pre-kindergarten through third graders. Both resident and non-resident children are welcome.

The theme for this year's program is "Sail Away with Books!" The program will feature great books and related arts and crafts. Olsen Elementary kindergarten teacher Carly Carlough will present the program.

Certificates, award books, and prizes will be given to all participants at the end of the program.

The program is sponsored by the Port Aransas Boatmen Inc., the City of Port Aransas and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

The library is open Tuesday 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., Wednesday-Friday 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information on the summer reading program, call the library at (361) 749-4116 or e-mail eml@cityofportaransas.org.
