Volunteers apply for advisory boards

No fewer than seven applicants have stepped forward to fill vacant positions on two key city boards.

Three terms expire this month on both the Parks and Recreation Board and the Board of Adjustments and Appeals.

By deadline yesterday two current members and another person had submitted resumes for the parks and recreation positions and four, including one incumbent had turned in applications for adjustments and appeals.

John Fucik, now the alternate, and incumbent Scott Holt have said they would like to continue to serve on the parks and recreation body. Lyndon Holcomb also handed in his application for that board.

Sharon Grumbles, whose term expires this year, did not apply for a new term.

Billy Gaskins, whose term on the Board of Adjustments and Appeals expires this year, has applied for a new term. Alternate Wendy Clark also applied. In addition, Jim Freeman, Theta Kenney and Noyes Livingston turned in applications for that body. Gordon Wise did not reapply for a new term.

The city council is expected to name members of both boards at its meeting on Thursday, May 17.
