Two grants for tarpon

Saltwater-Fisheries Enhancement Association (SEA) and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have teamed up to award the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI) a total of $96,000 to conduct a study of the migratory movements of large adult tarpon captured in waters off the Texas coast. Scott Holt, UTMSI research associate, second from left, accepts checks from Jim Atkins from SEA, left, Brent Burkhart, SEA president, second from right, and Art Morris of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The project will use advanced technology to safely track the movements of the Texas tarpon stock and evaluate the environmental impacts.
