Also proposed amendments to the bylaws will be presented. More ... Fifth-grade science students at H.G. Olsen Elementary School reached their goal of adopting 20 acres of rainforest this year. They sold more than 200 T-shirts for the Earth Foundation, an organization that supports rainforests around the world, in conjunction with the Nature Conservancy. Money raised from the T-shirt sales this year helps the Rift Valley region of Africa. More ... Project Graduation is offering a "two for one" deal. For $20, residents may get their house number painted on the curbs in front of their homes or on a concrete block that can be placed in front of homes. More ... Eight members of the Port Aransas High School Academic team are advancing to the state meet after winning the Region IV Class A Academic Spring Meet by an overwhelming margin. The meet was held at Blinn College in Brenham on April 14. Representatives from 41 schools competed in the meet. More ... The Brundrett Middle School band got some on-site practice at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater at Roberts Point Park on Tuesday, April 24. The Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department has the answer for parents wondering how they are going to entertain their children this summer: send them to one or all three of the Port Aransas Youth Council (PAYC) summer day camp sessions.
