Lady Marlins named to academic all-state team
      The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches has named two Port Aransas High School athletes to the organization's academic all-state team. The TABC selected Whitney Williams and Katie Coeckelenbergh to the academic all-state team for Class A schools.

Marlins post big win over Goliad
      The Marlins won one game and dropped three last week. The Port Aransas High School baseball team scored a big win over Goliad, 12-9, on the road Saturday, April 14. The losses came at the hands of Falls City, 3-13, at home on Friday, April 13, and in a double-header on the road against Cuero on Tuesday, April 10. Scores were 2-12 and 0-10.

Repairs will close courts, track
      Port Aransas school officials temporarily will close the tennis courts and track near Port Aransas High School for repairs in coming months. Workers will begin repairing cracks and other bad spots on the district's eight tennis courts in mid-May, said Billy Wiggins, superintendent of the Port Aransas Independent School District.

Phillips, Teller head for regional golf
      Two of Port Aransas High School's golf team members qualified to play in the regional tournament to be held Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24. The regional qualifying (district) meet was held Monday, April 9, in Kingsville where both senior Mary Teller and sophomore Ryan Phillips qualified as individual medalists.
