Spring Break

Art camp for kids set at art center

Expand your children's creativity and free up a little time for yourself by enrolling them in the Spring Break Youth Art Camp. A few spots remain for students (whether visitors or residents) in the camp to be held Monday through Friday, March 12- 16, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. It will be at the Art Center for the Islands, 323 N. Alister St.

The camp is for children in the third through fifth grades and will cost $20 for the week. Enrollment is limited to 16 students. Pre-register and pay in advance to save a spot.

Financial aid is available if needed. Leave name and phone number at the art center front desk for consideration.

The theme will be Paws for the Arts, with a focus on pets.

Kids will be taught about drawing, painting, authors, illustrators, art history, three-dimensional sculpting and music. Snack time will be included.

Marilyn Cook will lead the camp with some artists, musicians and teacher's helpers.

Some two-footed and four-footed guests will make appearances.
