Four Port Aransas High School band students qualified for the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Solo and Ensemble competition at Texas State University in May.

Each received first division ratings signifying superior performance on a class I solo or ensemble at the region UIL contest held Saturday, Feb. 24, at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Nicole Sanchez qualified with a baritone solo. A trio consisting of Elissa Rabalais on flute, Tiffany Brown on oboe and Meagan Jones on clarinet also qualified.

John Sanchez received a rating of excellent with a French horn solo at the competition.
