A registration deadline and a meeting are set today, Thursday, March 1, for the Relay for Life (RFL) team garage sale. The RFLsale will be held as a part of the citywide garage sale Saturday, March 3. All RFLteams are invited to participate.

Any team wanting to sell food at the garage sale must contact Lisa Shelton by today, Thursday, March 1. Places will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis and no duplications will be allowed. A team member must work the food sale and the team will keep all the money generated from that sale. The team must provide its own change.

The team sale will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 155 W. Cotter Ave. (former Dollar Store between the South Jetty office and Oceans of Seafood).

The sale will incorporate all team donations, and all teams participating in the sale will split the profits evenly toward their team goal.

At least one team member must work during the sale. All items will be sold for donations, except big-ticket items that will be given a price. Each team will be responsible for removing unsold items.

Help is needed during the drop off times, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5:30-8 p.m., on Friday, March 2.

Tickets for raffle items may be purchased at the garage sale. All proceeds will be added to the funds being raised by Relay for Life participants for The American Cancer Society.

The second annual Port Aransas Relay For Life will be held Friday, April 27, beginning at 7 p.m.

It is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in the community, said event chairman Lynne Ahlstrom.

Five new committee chairmen have been appointed this year; Lisa Shelton, fundraising and special events; Karen Jones, accounting; Pam Greene, Web site; Christi Carr, education and Monika Czerwinski, registration and event logistics.
