Marlins have shot at slot in play-offs
The Port Aransas High School Marlins still had a shot at making the playoffs as of press time on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
After losing at Pettus, 56-50, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Marlins had a district record of 3-4 and were waiting to see the outcome of an upcoming Pettus-Woodsboro game.
Pettus, with a record of 5-1 in district play, was the district leader as of Wednesday, Feb. 7.
If Pettus was to beat Woodsboro tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 9, and the Marlins then beat Woodsboro on Tuesday, Feb. 13, the Marlins would be tied with Woodsboro for third place in district.
The Marlins then would have to play a tie-breaker game with Woodsboro. The winner would advance into the playoffs.
Port Aransas is part of of District 31-1A, Division 1. Besides Woodsboro and Pettus, the rest of the district is composed of Corpus Christi Academy and Falls City.
The Feb. 13 game against Woodsboro will be the Marlins' last game of the season if they don't win.
