JV Ladies take second

JV squad won two games, lost two

games and ended up taking second

place in the Ingleside Tourney Dec.

7-9.

On the way to their second-place

tournament finish, the Lady Marlin

JV muzzled the Three Rivers Lady

Bulldogs, 52-41.

“I told the girls they needed to step

up and elevate their level of play,”

said Coach Karen Hall. “…Everyone

responded to what I told them and

ca me u p with a gre at win a ga i nst

probably the best team we have faced

this year.”

The Ingleside Lady Mustangs JV

beat their Port Aransas counterparts

26-10.

“Had we been playing at the level

that we have been playing, we would

h a ve and sh oul d h a ve beat t hem

easily,” Ha ll said. “We played OK

def ens e, but we c ould not get our

shots to go in again. We were only 2-

14 from the free throw line. The girls

worked hard on defense but were not

at all themselves.”

The Port Aransas team beat the Taft

Gre yhou nds, 28-22, despite being

tired. With only two substitute players

available, most of the starters had

to play the entire game.

The third time was the charm for

Aransas Pass. The Lady Marlins JV

team beat AP in two games earlier

this year, but the Lady Panthers JV

managed to eek out a win, 39-37, over

the Lady Marlins JV in the Ingleside

tournament.

“We started (strongly) like we always

do and then fizzled at the end,”

Hall s aid. “T he girl s were p laying

their fourth game in three days, and it

was showing a little in this game. To

their credit, they hung in and battled

and almost pulled it out at the end.”
