Christmas drives wind down
Toy donations will be accepted through Friday

Dig down deep to help make Port Aransas children have a happy Christmas through the Emergency Services Toy Round Up.

The collection of new, unwrapped toys and money continues through tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 15, and donations still are needed, according to Round Up chairman Kristin L. Adams.

“There have been much fewer donations this year than in the past, and we are almost out of time,” Adams said.

Gifts for kids of all ages are needed, but presents for 10 to 14-year-olds are needed more, according to Adams.

Donors generally lean toward buying gifts for children through about age 10. But pre-teens and teens are among children who could be without a Christmas gift without the generosity of the people of Port Aransas.

Through a joint effort among the fire, police and emergency medical service in Port Aransas, children who might not otherwise have Christmas presents are provided toys each year.

“We want all children in Port Aransas to have a merry Christmas, and with your help, together we can make that happen, one child at a time,” said Adams.

The parents will wrap toys. Deliveries will be made around Monday, Dec. 18.

Designated toy collection locations are the Port Aransas Police Department or EMS office at 705 W. Ave. A, city hall at 710 W. Ave. A, Family Center IGA at 416 S. Alister St., CenturyTel at 219 E. Ave. C, ValueBank at 500 S. Alister St., and the University of Texas Marine Science Institute at 750 Channel View Drive.

Checks may be made out to the Emergency Services Toy Round Up and dropped off at the EMS office.
