EDUCATION NOTES
Middle school is 'happening' place
KELSEY ABEL

Even from the beginning of the school year, the Brundrett Middle School Student Council has been busy planning ways to make money and help improve its school.

The weekend before the first day of school, a few student council members were seen outside the school weeding and picking up trash to improve the reading garden (Park's Place).

As the year proceeded, the student council began holding weekly meetings and discussing ideas for fundraisers and planning fun activities for their classmates. So far, the student council has held a bake sale, which raised $400, and a hat day in which students paid $1 to wear a hat during classes.

A l s o , t h i s group sponsored a Halloween dance, which was a great success and tons of fun!

Next, the student council will sell school supplies and even some Christmas gifts. The school supplies will include pencils, erasers, colored pencils, folders, pencil sharpeners and notepads. Later, the store will have items such as Santa hats, picture frames and Christmas cups filled with small gifts. The store will also provide an opportunity for students to buy photos of themselves to frame as family presents.

The year has begun with many projects, and we can't wait to see what the BMS Student Council will do throughout the year!
