Burn holiday calories on beach walk

Beach and nature lovers are invited to get an early start burning off those extra Thanksgiving dinner calories tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 24.

The burn can begin at a free, guided beach walk sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department. The walk is free, and is guided by Capt. Steve Zarych. He will meet walkers and those curious about what washes ashore on Mustang Island at 9 a.m. by the red flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier, which is at the end of Beach Street.

Rachael King, assistant director of the Parks and Recreation Department, suggests that participants wear comfortable shoes that can get wet and sandy.

"And bring something to carry all the cool stuff you are bound to find," King said.

The walks are held on the fourth Friday of the month, year-round. For more information call 749-4158.
