Bicycle rider hurt in wreck

A bicycle rider who was part of the Conquer the Coast ride through Port Aransas on Saturday, Sept. 30, was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital after she was involved in an accident in Port Aransas.

Maureen Sanderson, of Olmito, was riding southbound on the shoulder of State Hwy. 361 when she hit a cement truck parked on the shoulder of the highway near Beach Access Road 1, reports from Nueces County Constable Precinct 4 show.

The report says the truck was away from the driving lane and was parked with its flashers on. There is no indication of why Sanderson failed to see the truck.

She was taken to the hospital by Port Aransas Emergency Medical Service crews.

Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
