Plant swap, historian and bond talk set for meeting Two items have been added to the agenda for the next meeting of the Port Aransas Garden Club. The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Community Center, 408 N. Alister St. A plant exchange will be held at the meeting, and all attendees are encouraged to "bring some green to swap." Plants, cuttings, rootings and more will be exchanged. Additionally, City Manager Michael Kovacs will make a presentation on the upcoming bond election. Dr. John Guthrie Ford will speak on "Journey Through Island Time" at the meeting. Ford is a Port Aransas author and historian. At the meeting, yearbooks will be distributed, and dues of $10 will be collected. Dues also may be sent to P.O. Box 681, Port Aransas, TX 78373. Both of the October and November trips are fully booked but waiting lists have been formed and attendees may add their names. The October event is a trip to Progresso, Mexico on Oct. 19. Cost is $30 per person. The November event is an art gallery tour and and cooking with Lisabella's combo for $15. The next gardening day will be at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center, with the date to be announced at the meeting. |
