City hall to take holiday; no mail to be delivered on Columbus Day

The day named in honor of the man who discovered America, Christopher Columbus, will be, for the most part, business as usual.

The exceptions on Monday, Oct. 9, will be the Port Aransas post office, city hall and Prosperity Bank.

No mail will come in or leave the post office. While doors at city hall will be closed, employees will be locked inside making the change from one fiscal year to the next. Prosperity Bank will be closed, giving employees a holiday.

Amercan Bank and ValueBank Texas will be open, and it will be business as usual at Nueces County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4.

Trash collection schedules will not be interrupted by the holiday. The only holidays when trash is not collected are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days.
