Marilyn Cook named to council of honor society

Marilyn Cook of Port Aransas has been named to the 2006-2008 Kappa Delta Pi Executive Council. Cook, a teacher at H.G. Olsen Elementary School, was chosen as alumni counselor for the International Honor Society in Education for the next two years.

Cook has been in the educational field for 23 years as an elementary teacher, adjunct professor at the university level and scorer for the Pearson Education Measurement SAT essays.

She has been a Texas School Improvement Initiative Peer Evaluator, is the president of the Dyslexia Society of South Texas, and a facilitator for the Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching held by the State Science Teachers of Texas Association.

Cook has been a contributor to The Educational Forum, a Kappa Delta Pipublished journal and to the Society's Web site. She has also received two classroom teachers' grants.

Founded in 1911, Kappa Delta Pi is a learning community that recognizes and enhances growth in scholars and leaders.
