Learn painting, crafts, more at center classes The Art Center for the Islands has scheduled more classes for the public in jewelry making, glass fusing, drawing, colored pencil painting and watercolor. All classes/workshops are held at the art center, 323 N. Alister St., and supply lists are available there. On Monday Sept. 18, Sue McClurg will teach copper jewelry making with turquoise and fossil beads. Pre-registration by tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 15, is required, and the cost is $30. On Monday, Sept. 25, a workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on dichroic glass fusing. Attendees will make two different styles of pendants, a pair of earrings and a lapel pin. Pre-registration by Friday, Sept. 22, is required, and the cost is $100. Every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a Drop In and Draw class will be held with Pat Dittberner and Toni Somers instructing. The cost is $15 for non-members and $13.50 for members. On Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Norma Gafford teaches painting with colored pencils. The cost is $15 for non-members and $13.50 for members. Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Donna Garven will teach soft pastels. The cost is $15 for nonmembers and $13.50 for members. Kay Barnebey is teaching beginning/ intermediate watercolor on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $25 for one class or $80 for four classes. |
