Runners open new CC season

A heat index in the triple digits did not keep the Port Aransas High School cross country team from opening its season.

The Marlin and Lady Marlins long distrance runners under the direction of athletic director and coach Steve Reaves went to the Corpus Christi Miller High School cross country meet on Saturday, Aug. 26.

As a team, the Lady Marlins finished second in division II.

"I was real pleased with how they ran and how them competed," Reaves said.

The team did not concern itself with times in this meet, "because we knew we weren't in great shape yet," Reaves said.

"Our two goals were to compete, beat as many runners as possible, and gain meet conditioning. Both goals were accomplished," he said.

The two Marlins who competed went with the same two goals as the Lady Marlins.

"As far as I'm concerned both of them accomplished these goals also," Reaves said.
