     First mate Demetrio Mejia of Port Aransas took his daughter, Ashley Mejia, of Belize with him on a trip aboard the Scat Cat with Captain Marvin Horner. Anglers on the trip out of Fisherman's Wharf Thursday, Aug. 17, brought back snapper, shark and amberjack.

     Elfriede and Wayne Crawford of Port Aransas just returned from Kona, Hawaii, where she caught a 627.5-pound blue marlin, using a skipjack they caught.      piece of driftwood that washed ashore on Mustang Island last week, after being at sea for several months. Barnacles cement themselves to virtually anything solid and dine by waving tiny "feet" through the water, picking up bits of food.
