Missed shots spoil Marlin game
Close play Reid Copeland of the Port Aransas High School Marlins goes up against a Kenedy player. The Port Aransas High School Marlins fell to Kenedy, 58-32, on Nov. 28.
"We just didn't shoot the ball well in the first half," said Marlins Coach Mark Spencer. "We had opportunities - many opportunities - to score."
Only 27 percent of the Marlins' shots found their ways through the hoops. Rebounding also was subpar.
The Marlins now have a record of 2-6; however, they were 0-11 last year before they won their first game, so this year is looking at least slightly better.
On the plus side, Marlin player Matt White had a strong game against Kenedy, scoring 12 points and doing a good job of transitioning to offense.
Also noteworthy: The Marlins got better as the game went on, scoring more points each quarter than the quarter before.
