Presbyterian Women to host Christmas event on Saturday

Get ready to shop for a good cause Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Christmas Gourmet Shoppe and Boutique.

Gourmet goodies, a raffle, crafts, slightly used items and a silent auction await the public.

The Presbyterian Women of the Community Presbyterian Church will hold the event from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Pollock Center, behind the church at 113 S. Alister St.

A Second-hand Rose section will sport gently used collectibles and decorations.

Tables will be covered with handmade crafts and country gift items for attendees to browse through and purchase.

Frozen dinners including stuffed peppers, lemon chicken, chicken tetrazzini and more; home-baked goods including breads, rolls, cookies, candies and other "yummies for the tummy" will be for sale at the Gourmet Shoppe. They will be packaged as gifts ready to give.

Samples will be given of the "fruits of the spirit" soup and hot spiced tea. Both mixes will be for sale in the shoppe.

The silent auction will feature of jewelry including a gold cross with diamond center, framed needlework, collectible coins and a surfboat.

The raffle includes a nautical afghan made by Paula Harbaugh, a quilted hanging and table runner made by Kay Jacchole and approximately one-and-a-half-foot Santa and angel table decorations donated by Marla Heinen. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. The raffle items may be seen and tickets may be purchased at the church office and at the event. The winning ticket will be drawn at noon on Sunday, Dec. 10, in the Pollock Center.

"We will have lots of items to select. You won't want to miss out on all the wonderful choices," said spokesman Cheryl Marshall.

The proceeds will be added to the Presbyterian Women's scholarship

program. Scholarships are given to Port Aransas High School seniors each year by the Presbyterian Women.
