Art Center offers various classes
Hone artistic skills in several mediums by attending December workshops and classes at the Art Center for the Islands. Students are welcome to bring snacks to workshops that span the lunch hour.
A watercolor workshop painting water birds will be taught by Diana Rickey from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Attendees will paint three or four different water birds.
Pre-register and pay half of the $39 cost as soon as possible to save a place.
Kay Barnebey will teach beginning/ intermediate watercolor on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9. The class will cover use of reds and greens and making watercolor Christmas cards. It will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a lunch break.

Sue McClurg will hold jewelry workshops in December.
A copper/turquoise and fossil beads workshop will be held Monday, Dec. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $30.
A dichroic glass fusing class is slated for Monday, Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. 5 p.m., with a break for lunch. The cost is $100.
On Monday, Dec. 18, the workshop will be on hammered silver bracelets. It will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $30.
Every Tuesday, except Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, Pat Dittberner and Toni Somers teach a Drop In and Draw class from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The cost is $15 for non-members and $13.50 for members.
"Come, learn to draw or improve your skills with us any Tuesday and have a great time," said Somers.
A supply list is available at the art center.
Every Thursday except Dec. 28, Donna Garven will teach the techniques of using soft pastels from 9:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
The cost is $15 for non-members and $13.50 for members.
Students should bring a set of soft pastels, and the correct paper is available from the instructor.
