BMS RUNNERS TAKE ON CROWDED FIELD

DISTRICT MEET IS MONDAY IN CORPUS CHRISTI

Brundrett Middle School's cross country team came up against a "huge field of runners" Saturday, Oct. 14, on a two-mile course at the Calallen meet.

"Once we were able to get out of the large groups, our kids really competed," said Coach Randy Henderson.

"Kalani Balcom overcame stomach cramps. Ben Scott outran the boy I told him to catch over the last half mile. Erika Witten, Jessica Etheridge, Shelbi Foley, and Nycole Chambers all improved their times from the previous week. Katie Samudio improved considerably as well. Catherine, Marina, and Kelsey all ran well to lead the way for our girls' team," Henderson added.

The boys' team showed continued improvement. "Matthew Fries and Bobby Baker ran very well," Henderson said.

The team's next, and last, meet of the year is the district meet on Monday, Oct. 23, at West Guth Park in Corpus Christi. Middle school races begin at 3:30 pm.
