     Brandon Iron Krauser of Del Valle, 7, set a new Junior Angler State Record for red drum on Tuesday, Aug. 17, while fishing at the jetties. The fish measured 41.25 inches and weighed 29.75 pounds.

      With school starting and not many visitors in town, the docks have seen fewer anglers ready to try their luck on the open seas. Those who have shown up, have been rewarded with a nice variety to serve at their dinner table.

Women anglers hit it big
      The 13th annual Texas Women Anglers Tournament, held in Port Aransas on Aug. 27-29, was a big success. Women from surrounding areas registered 43 boats in the tournament and released a total of 29 billfish, including 18 sailfish, two blue marlin and eight white marlin.
