FISHING REPORT
Bay anglers report more redfish caught
      As the water warms up a little more each week, so does the fishing. Redfish catches reported were up significantly this week in the bays, along with black drum and sheepshead. Offshore boats again reported good hauls of blackfin tuna, vermilion snapper and kingfish.

     Hollis Schussler of Manor caught this 96-pound amberjack on Saturday, March 6. Schussler fished aboard the Dolphin Express out of Dolphin Dock on a 12-hour trip with Capt. Tim Oestreich.

Meat haul
      These anglers caught blackfin tuna, amberjack, ling, vermilion snapper and kingfish on Sunday, March 7. They fished aboard the Gulf Eagle With Capts. Keith Schoolcraft and Clint Clark out of Deep Sea Headquarters.

Big mako
      Anglers Erick Harris and Micah Underwood both of San Antonio caught this 128-pound mako shark, along with vermilion snapper, on a 12-hour night trip on Saturday, March 6. They fished aboard the Scat Cat with Capt. Russell Sanquinet out of Fisherman’s Wharf.

Great catch
      On Tuesday, March 9, Port Aransas Guide Gary Cooper, left, Gary Johnson and Jim Mitten of Oakley, Kans., and Rodger Gillaspie of Quinter, Kans., fished Redfish Bay using shrimp for bait. The anglers brought in 15 black drum and two redfish. They hung their catch at Woody’s Sports Center.
