Projects expand, near finish

From the standpoint of a veteran with nearly 40 consecutive years of selling real estate in Port Aransas to one who has 10 years under her belt, the conclusion is the same: The real estate market has hit bottom in Port Aransas, and it’s bouncing back. Unless a property owner bought real estate here between 2004 and 2006 when prices peaked, sellers stand to make more than they paid and buyers stand to get a good deal. If someone knocks on your door wearing fins and goggles, don’t panic. It’s probably not the Creature from the Black Lagoon. It may be a member of the Port Aransas Swim Team asking for Swim-a-Thon pledges. Swim team members will swim laps at the Swim-a-Thon to raise funds for the team. Donors may pledge any amount per lap swum or donate a one-time set amount. Funds raised are used to offset the cost of equipment such as computers and soft ware, office supplies, trophies, swimsuits and kick boards. More...
Anglers of all ages will be in Port Aransas Thursday through Sunday, July 9-12 for the 74th Deep Sea Roundup. The oldest and largest saltwater fishing tournament on the Texas coast is sponsored by the Port Aransas Boatmen, Inc. Proceeds fund various youth-related activities and scholarships for Port Aransas High School graduates. The family-friendly tournament includes a Piggy Perch Contest for the small fry, as well as junior and adult divisions for bay and offshore anglers. More...
The Port Aransas Swim Team lost by a narrow margin to the Flour Bluff Aquatic Swim Team Frogs at a meet on Saturday, June 27, at the Community Park pool. The final, combined score results were the F.A.S.T. Frogs 228 and the PAST 222. Port Aransas individual and team times follow. More...
Tom Lamb- ertson, 82, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in San Antonio. He was a long-time resident of Port Aransas and was named Boatman of the Year in 1990. Lambertson was born in Mercedes on July 26, 1926, to Joe and Fannie Lambertson. At age 18, Lambertson enrolled in the University of Oklahoma as an officer candidate. While there, he met his future wife, Francelle Rice. They were married on the same day he graduated as an ensign. More...
