Beach vending referendum brings out voters

At just more than 23 percent of registered voters in Port Aransas casting ballots, Saturday’s voter turn-out rates well for an election with so few contested races. In fact, only one race was contested. It was for Place 1 on the Port Aransas ISD board of trustees between Lisa Shelton and Jim Brown. Shelton won, 402 (13 percent) to 276 (.08 percent) for Brown.
